Q3. Just got my used SAN 2000. When I start it, with engine cover open, it sounds like the starter engages, starts the engine, then fails to disengage immediately. Maybe it stays engaged another few seconds, but sounds really long when you're sitting there worrying about it. What does this mean? Is it norma?

RE: Starter/bendix not releasing?
Marine starters have a special detent that does not allow the bendix to disengage until it reaches a certain RPM. This is to keep it from sparking against a moving flywheel. It may just need to be lubed.Nautiqueless in San Diego

My manual says nothing about this, although I would rather do some PM , than have an issue
