Shower in a ZR6 closed cooled engine....
Is it possible? I installed one on a raw water cooled engine by taking the hot water from the block......would you take the hot water from the exhaust maifold in a closed system??

It's possible. Indeed via the hotwater from the exhaust manifold or with an extra heat exchanger for the shower.

Hey Laptom,

Any idea if the exhaust manifold would provide enough heat?? I'm assuming you'd have to have the boat running for quite a while too.....I'm just lookin for enough to warm up the wetsuit and unthaw the feet in the spring....

Well I assume if the factory doesnt offer it is prob isnt possible. The factory doesn not offer it on a ZR6.

The factory hasn't offered showers for a couple of years now on ANY boat. They're concerned about carbon monoxide poisoning.

Off course it's posible to use a shower on a closed cooling engine. You have a hot engine and water. What more do you need to get hot water? That CC doesn't offered it from as a factory option is because of another reason.

Personally I wouldn't go down the route of tapping the exhaust manifold. Or test it before you do. I can imagine that the exhaust manifold deliver to little of water to keep the exhaust cool. But it's quite posible that it's no problem. Just check it!
The heatexchanger is the most savest way.

I think the engine needs to be running quite long before delivering hot water. The internal system needs to be heated up first. On our 210 with excalibur you can use the shower after 2 minutes or so. No idea how long it takes when you use a heat exchanger or the hot water from exhaust manifold.

Called CC today...
The Tech told me to take the hotwater intake from my exhaust return for a shower. He told me that the PCM manual should indicate the proper point to take it from......
As for a heater in a closed cooled system, he told me that I prolly would be unsatisfied, as he has heard from his customers that the closesd cooled heaters don't get as hot as raw water heaters because of coolent being used in circulation.
I'll check my PCM manual tonight to see what it indicates for access points.

My heater in my 07 210 w/ZR6 closed cooling syatem gets HOT. My raw water heater friends tell me mine is hotter than theirs. Just to let you know!

I ended up ordering a closed cooled shower kit (heatercraft), it was very pricy cause it has its own exchanger, and suposedly it "T's" in with the heater hoses. I guess its the same as the regular kits, except it heats the water with an exchanger. I should be getting it any day. I'll take some pics of my install when I get to it too.
