When winterizing, do you guys fog your engines, or not?

On a v-8 engine, four or five cylinders have open valves when the engine is stopped. Air can flow in and out of these cylinders, and with temperature changes from day to night, condensation can occur on the cylinder walls. Fogging oil protects the cylinder walls for an extended period of time. Your alternative is to hook the engine up to a supply of water, and run it long enough to get to normal operating temperature (15 or 20 minutes) and then shut it off, every two weeks.
Engine oil slowly drains off the internal parts of the engine, and leaves then uncovered, and able to rust. My understanding is that synthetic oils (non-petroleum base) actually run off engine parts faster.
Use a fuel stabilizer also. PCM recommends twice the normal amount for long term storage. The one year I did not use a fuel stabilizer, the following spring, I had to replace the low pressure fuel pump on my engine.
Change your engine oil, filter, and transmission oil when you lay the boat up.
I have 1948 hours on a 1997 GT-40 engine. Still running strong, I get about 4 quarts of oil out of the engine on an oil change, put 4 and 1/2 quarts in.

RE: Winterizing: fog engine or not?
I always spray fogging oil in each cylinder through the spark plug hole followed by rotating the motor a rotation or three to spread everything around.
Don't think it is a good idea to fog at the intake w/EFI.

RE: Winterizing: fog engine or not?
just found this on PCM's site:
"Remove the fl ame arrestor and start the engine.
Operate the engine at a fast idle speed
(1000-1500 RPM). Use an aerosol-type fogging
solution and spray suffi cient amount, into the
throttle body assembly bores, to treat internal
surfaces of the engine. Refer to the instructions
on the fogging solution canister. Turn the ignition
switch to the OFF position."\'03 196 LTD

drain and put fresh oil in, add stabil to gas... fog through the carb first so it dies out. then pull each plug and fog into each cylinder. screw the plugs back in by hand and pull all the drain plugs, take water strainer apart, pull bottom hose from tranny cooler. turn motor over a few times and fire it up in the spring.
