Battery Switch (Perko or Blue Sea)

I need a battery switch for my boat and I have a local West Marine. I have seen Perko's before, but I just saw another brand, Blue Sea. The Blue Sea got good reviews and looks like it can handle more power:

    Or there is the Perko:

The disconnect version for the Blue Sea is about $10 cheaper. I don't currently have 2 batteries but I would get the 2 battery switch. Is there any reason I shouldn't get the Blue Sea? Thanks.

    Battery Switch

I have the Blue Sea installed in my 90 and have had absolulety no problems with it. It was cheaper and more compact then the Perko.

I have used a few Blue Sea's products and I like them. I have a Blue Sea battery switcher in my boat and I like it better than the Perko. It seems to rotate smoother and it glows in the dark and just feels more finished. I have also used the Blue Sea battery combiner Its a awesome product. You should look into it. IMO the battery combiner will make it so you dont need a battery switcher

Weird thing is My current Blue Sea battery switch went bad. Yup my boat was having a hard time starting and I traced it back to the switcher. I took it out and West Marine switched it out no problem. I have never heard of a battery switcher going bad I would think they are very simple and that would be one thing that would not break or go bad.

Here is a Before and After Pic of the Battery install I did using the Blue Sea battery combiner.

I stopped by Academy sports at lunch and picked one up for $24, a little cheaper than West Marine ($34). Here's the model I got: http://bluesea.com/category/1/products/9001e

I just need to figure out the cabling. I have some extra 4 Gauge from my stereo install, so I might use that to connect the switch to the battery. I'd just need terminals for it and I couldn't find any 4 Gauge at Academy.

            Battery Switch

West Marine usually carries several sizes of battery cable lugs

              RE: Battery Switch

Are those pictures in your pontoon boat Grant? What does the system look like that you have in there?
