I bought a used year 2000 SAN V-drive. At first I had a lot of dripping from the driveshaft. This was tightened up, and seems to have stopped 0- still drips about 5 to 10 drops per minute standing still/engine off. My question is, how much bilge water collection would be reasonable for the boat sitting in the water all week? Last week (5 days) I got about 5 gallons of bilge at start up. Should I be checking something else?

RE: SAN 2000 Bilge water
Assuming it wasn't rain water - thats way too much... I'd say you have a slow leak somewhere, were you not using the entire week and still picked up that much water?
I'd start at the raw water filter and work you way down the water lines to make sure everything is tight and in good shape. If that doesn't yield the source of the leak, then it's possible there is a problem with the dripless gland around the propeller shaft as it comes through the boat, or maybe one of the tracking fins has loosed up a bit.2018 Ski Nautique 200 TE, H6

RE: SAN 2000 Bilge water
Check the Rudder packing if thats is OK check the muffler. There is a weap hole in the back that should have a small pug in it If that has fallen out the water will come in. Worst case is like my 2000 With 1300 hours on it. The padding between the muffler and hull moved out form under the muffler( it's a small black pad of neoprene.) The muffler then rubbed a hole in itself and the water seeps in there. This winter I need to remove the muffler and reglass it.Nautiqueless in San Diego
