Gel coat fading

I've got a 2003 Air Nautique which is all black including the top sides
problem is the top sides are starting to fade a bit.
I have used the 3m colour restore and wax but only midly better and not for long.
Any ideas

wet sand with some 2000 grit then polish up with some wax after that. she'll look like new!
