    Cleaning your cover

Our Cover has become increasingly dirty and I believe this is translating to a somewhat filthy boat after long stays under the cover even though we clean the boat after every day on the water. Can you steam clean your cover or is there another alternative?

    RE: Cleaning your cover

By steam clean do you mean pressure wash? Do not do it on the boat. A lot of the dirt will be pushed through the cover and onto the boat. Don't ask how I know.
I hung my cover on a fence, and pressure washed it there. My cover is canvass, and staying too long in one spot on the cover will blow holes in the cover.
Washing the cover will probably remove any waterproofing on it. you will need to reapply that.

You can also take it to your local laundrymat and throw it in one of the commercial sized washing machines then hang it dry before reapplying the waterproofing. This is easy and works well if it is not extremely dirty. Otherwise, the pressure washer is the way to go (or use the wand at the war wash).

A friend used one of the commercial washers on his cover. He added 303 fabric cleaner to the wash and it came out great. You'll want to re-up the water repellancy (303 fabric guard, used generously) afterwards. It looks and performs like a new cover.
