Second Bilge Pump doesn't seem to work and other ???

On my 2000 Sport Nautique there is a second bilge pump in the stern under the storage compartment. I have never seen it work so while winterizing I tested it and it seems to be working okay but only with the float switch - my front pump starts regardless when I hit the pump switch on the dash which I believe also should power the rear bilge pump. Both pumps seem identical. Am I missing something or is there a setting somewhere I need to change?

Also will I be able to get the pcm fcc fuel filter at NAPA or is it a specialty marine part?

What is the white filter on the starboard top side of the engine? It looks like a traditional inline fuel filter.

    RE: Second Bilge Pump doesn

The FCC filter is a dealer item, or skidim as far as I know. I havent had enough water in my sport to run the rear bilge, so I cant offer anything on it, or the other filter. I dont recall the other filter on my boat.

I have the same 00 San with a bilge pump in the rear. I have had alot of water in the boat and have yet to see the water come out of the 2nd hole on the outside of boat that is attached to the rear bidge pump. Any help for myself and 79bombi would be appreciated!!

79bombi, are you the original owner? It sounds to me like someone may have put a float switch and/or replaced your rear bilge pump and taken the dashboard switch control away (someone correct me if I'm wrong, but CC hasn't used float activated pumps in quite a while). When you turn the switch on both pumps should run, if they sense water they will keep running until the water is no longer sensed. For one to have a float and the other to not sounds like someone has changed the original equipment.

brianlohmann - Usually one pump won't work if it gets debris in the impeller, which happens a lot, but this is easy to fix. Pop the pump out of it's mount and look at the impeller, if there's nothing obvious take a small screwdriver and try to spin the impeller (don't force it) usually spinning it a few times will loosen it up and it will work like new.

I have noticed this as well. I believe it's because the hull of the boat is sloped toward the front bilge pump (by the drain hole) The only time I've seen my rear pump work is while underway and the bow of the boat is raised so that water in the bilge runs to the back. While at rest or on the trailer the front bilge will not let the water get high enough in the bilge to reach the pump in the rear.
