    hey,

i had a similar experience with a ZR6. it was a bitch to find the cause and would happen at anytime, at first not that often but it increased until the boat was unuseable.

the problem was a bad connection on the engines main wiring harness. it would cause the fuel injection to flood the cylinders, hence i also experienced strong smell of fuel. most times it would restart after a while with a huge fuel vapour but in the end i got stranded too.

it took a decent mechanic about 4-5 hours on water to find the problem, and only when it was back on the trailer did it play up. on the harness at the back there is some sort of plug/connection, he could get it to play up just by wiggling it.

once the harness was replaced the boat has been fine after about 120 hours.

    good luck!

What type of fuel are you using in the engine? How much ethanol is in it?
