Lost Power to Gauges

Hello Guys,

I'm new here. Just bought an 03 SANTE. Had it at the lake yesterday and while plowing home thru some waves I lost power to my gauges. I still have power to the key pad, motor, and stereo, but nothing at the gauges.

I looked behind the dash pod, evreything connected. I looked at the gateway box on the transom, everthing appears to be connected. It then started to rain before I could trace wires any further.

Where does the gatway box tie into power on the motor? Where are the fuses for the Gateway box?

Any other areas I should be checking? Is there a power wire for the gauges off the power Toggle switch at the helm?

I had a similar problem on our 206, there is a small box in the trunk that I thought was refered to as an ECM, there are several plugs connected to it and also both pitot (speedo) lines, perhaps this is the "Gateway Box" that you have already checked, if not be sure all connections are made and solid.
This module went bad on our boat and after the dealer replaced it they did not plug everything back in so many of my gauges were not working, all the plugs are slightly different shapes so you easily can determine which one plugs where.

The ECM is mounted directly to the engine. The gateway box is what you're both talking about in the back of the boat.

Talked to the service guy at my dealer. He suggested checking the power into and out of the gateway box. Said if that does not fix it then the box itself needs to be replaced. He made it sound like a common occurance. Anyone experience this? The boat is still under warranty for the original owner. Think CC will step to the plate?

Jeff, thanks for the clarification.

Sounds like the same problem I had, in my case somehow the circuit board within the Gateway box got wet and fried it, I also had alarms going off while running, CC fixed mine under warranty.

I had a Faria Gateway replaced on my '03 210.

Last night I put a test light to the power plug and found that i have constant power and ignition power going into the box, but no power leaving to the gauges. I emailed CC and asked them how they would liketo hadle the situation. I am a great distance from my dealer. I am hoping they will mail me a new box. I can handle the install.

I have had to replace the faria gateway box twice. The first time I had the dealer do it (warranty) The second time, the dealer just shipped the box to me and I installed it. (The cost of the box was covered by warranty.) It is very easy to do. However, we discovered the hard way that there is more than one version of this box. The dealer did not even know this the first time. Apparently there have been updates, and/or are different versions depending on what electronic options you have on the boat. And the versions all look exactly alike. So, if you are doing this yourself, make sure you have the correct version by looking at the numbers and telling your dealer what options you have. The last box has now worked fine for 2 seasons.

I doubt that you will catch any static from CC or Faria about covering this by warranty, but if you do, I wouldn't hesitate about pushing back pretty hard. Back when I was fooling around with this issue, the word was out that there were some bad batches of these things and that the failures had nothing to do with usage or abuse. And as I recall, retail on the boxes was a tad spendy.

Spoke with Dealership and they are covering the box. They have ordered per my boat serial number (so should recieve the correct box) and will ship the box to me when it arrives. Presuming this fixes the problem it really couldn't have gone any smoother. Thumbs up to my dealer and CC!

FIXED!!!

Recieved the box and installed it Friday. Gauges back up and working better than before. I use to have to scroll thru the options to find the depthfinder every time I started the boat. Now The depth finder comes up automatically.

One question. Is the WT suppose to read the water temp and AT the air temp? Yesterday the WT was 70.6 and the AT was 50.4 while in the water. Is it possible I have these two plugs switched?

I know the air was not 50 degrees.

RE: FIXED!!!

I lost power to all my gauges except PP. I can still use the keypad and the ballast still works. I just don't know my fuel level, depth, engine vitals etc. I have a 2004 SV 211 so it is still under warranty. The problem is, I diagnosed this and took it into the dealer for verification well over 1 month ago when they claim to have ordered a new gateway box. They are telling me CC is changing over their parts distribution network and are blaming this for not getting in the new box. Is this true? As I said I can still use my boat, but this seems very unreasonable for a part replacement.
