RE: Rudder packing
There have been several threads here and on correctcraftfan.com. Are you sure it needs replacing. You may be able to loosen the cinch nut and tighten the packing nut 1/8 to 1/4 turn to stop the leaking. If not you nee to remove the pitman arm. mark it as you want to make sure it goes back on the esame way it come off. Support the rudder if you take the packing nut off it will fall out. pull old packing out. take 3 pieces of packing, my 2000 used 1/4' teflon coated flax. wrasp it around the shaft with the joints of the pieces on opposite sides of the shaft. tighten handtight then 1/8 turn with a wrench. RE: Rudder packing
Call Correct Craft and find out what size packing it takes. There is no consistency that Ive been able to find. Despite what it says on SkiDIM's site, my dad's '03 took 1/4" for the driveshaft. My '90 took 3/16" for both the driveshaft and rudder.1990 Ski Nautique
