First time doing an Oil Change

So I changed the oil for the first time in my 02' CC 210 (recently purchased and time for an oil change/winterizing) and it took about 2 hours for the engine to drain completely (ran the boat for several minutes with a fake-a-lake)...is this normal?? To get it to flow I had to blow into the tube. I have the GT-40 engine and its a v-drive. Any suggestions...

Also I ponied up for a K&N oil filter...not sure if it was worth the extra dollars but since I was saving over having the marina do it I thought it might be good...anyone else us these???

If you only run long enough for the engine to come up to temp, odds are the oil was still pretty cool. My vette had an oil temp gauge. When the engine temp first got to the 200 degree range, the oil was still only around 110 degrees. It would take another 15 minutes of driving for the oil temp to get to the 160 - 170 degree range. If you want the oil to drain quicker, let it run quite a bit longer. Best bet is to drain the oil right after you pull it out of the water from a good run.

Skiinxs said it well. It would probably take 15-30 minutes on the fake a lake at idle to get oil up to temp. Spend a short afternoon on the water and let her drain when after you get back. It will still take a while to drain. Personally I wouldnt spend the money for the K&N filter. The Motorcraft FL1A Filter is one of the best on the market, and its reasonably priced to boot.
