    Quick question on impeller direction.

Not sure if it matters, but when installing the impeller, what is its normal direction of rotation?. I marked the inlet and outlet, but forgot to take notice of the impeller direction. Will it matter? or will the vanes simply flip over when it runs, if its wrong.
    Thanks

oh yes it matters for sure. if you used lube they will flip but if you didnt they will not. mount pump with out belt bump motor over to figure out wich way pulley will turn. try to turn the waterpump pulley by hand the same direction the crank pulley turns if you cant you have the impellor in wrong.

I changed mine in the spring (330 hp excalibur) and once I pulled the old impeller out, forgot which way it went. I called the dealer and they said it did not matter beacause the newer impellers are so soft they will right themselves once started. I must of got it right, no problems all year.

Well I have the pump off and can turn the pump either way. I lubed it with vasoline as I installed it.

well since you lubed it they are fliping and you should be ok. trust me it matters people bring them in ALL the time i changed the impeller and it fried first time out. "did you use lube or check the direction of rotation?" blank stare follows by "how much do you charge to change my impeller". lube is the key you lube your fine you dont you may not get so lucky.

Did it for more then 10 years. Never bother it. The vanes will turn over to te right direction. Always installed it with some lube (soap or something) for easier install. Never fried a impeller.
