NEED HELP WITH STEERING CABLE INSTALL

Does anyone know how to install a steering cable on a 1999 pro air nautique?

Tie a rope on the old one when pulling it out and use the rope to pull in the new one. Make sure it is exactly the same length as the original, sometimes suppliers try to sell you an even length when you need an odd length, the extra foot is just enough to make it a complete nightmare. It's pretty easy, most cc manuals have a few pages with pictures of each end that helps to figure out whats needed.

RE: NEED HELP WITH STEERING CABLE INSTALL

        19.5 foot is the length.

I did it on my 99 Sport that has ballast and it was pretty hard to work around the ballast tanks. That was really the only part that was difficult. I wound up taking the mount off the side of the bilge and completely disconnecting the rudder. I then used the string method when I pulled the old cable out to use as a guide for the new cable. After reinstalling all the brackets and mounts I installed the new cable and re-attached the rudder.

The hardest part was using a box end wrench with my hands wedged down between the ballast tanks to disconnect and reconnect the cable to the rudder. Otherwise, I thought it was a pretty straight forward job.

Thanks for the help. I ended up moving the gas tank enough to prop up the ballast takes so i could remove the floor under the ballast tanks. After that is was pretty simple.
