It can be installed by your dealer. Again, absolutely crucial on an 00+ boat.

It's a nautique branded part. The wiring is actually surprisingly complex to do it correctly. The switch even has its own dedicated circuit breaker for the auto-bilge when it is running in auto-bilge only mode. The wiring can be seen in the 2001 wiring diagram in the reference section of the site.

As 2000 was the first year of the smart pod, and in 2001 they fitted this isolation switch from the factory, I am thinking maybe CC realized that the smart pod was a battery drainer. It wont beat me ,I will get to the bottom of it !!!! :-)

I also opened up my box of circuit breakers as I am investgating why my blower does not run, they are only CB inside under the rudder caps, you cannot switch them off. You can however remove them as they just plug in. I could not measure the battery drain as no ammeter, only had volt meter with me. I also have this 3 way switch under the dash, nothinmg complicated, a 3 pos switch, CB and indicator light, lablelled on/off/bilge, I keep mine in the ON position and always disconnect the battery. I understood it was used if you left your boat in the water.

If you just switch the switch to "Off", you'll save a whole lot of time disconnecting the battery. That's what the switch is for. The Bilge position is for leaving it in the water for extended periods of time.

Thats cool, I will be able to pull each CB, one at a time and check the amp drain at the battery. I saw the DO NOT OPEN sticker and thought it may self destruct or something!!!

I like to know my battery is OFF by disconnecting it, that way it can't drain via a leaky diode in the alternator, or any other short, so I can also relax and not worry about an electrical fire. Best to be safe than sorry.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Battery drain

I went down to the boat to continue troubleshooting. Pulled each circuit breaker one by one, last one I pulled was Keypad. Guess what amp draw went down to 5mA. So it was the keypad all along.Refitted breaker and unplugged the 4 wire plugs going to either side keypad.Made no difference, aarh!!!. It must be going to ground somewhere .
I think I will just fit the 3 position switch and be done with it!!

I think the electronics in the box is drawing the 176 mA and could be normal. I will try to measure my battery drain at the battery for you to compare.

You could always fit a battery isolator switch or just disconnect the battery.

Yep, spoke to Woody at SECC, he said it was normal. I will put in the CC battery/bilge switch. Thanks for the help guys
