06 SANTE Belly/Center Ballast Tank Did Not Overflow

Filled up the ballast this weekend and typically I let them run till overflow then shut them off - I shut off the Port and Star but did not get the center as it was not full - went ahead and pulled one of the kids and after a few minutes started to hear loud cracking sounds - realized the floor (center) of the boat was/had risen about two inches - shut down the ballast and went into ballast drain mode - opened up center ballast floor hatch and ballast tank was rounding (no longer rectangular in shape) due to all the water pressure - all returned to normal as the eye can see after tank level went down - why would the overflow not work - is it not just a hose through the hull from the top of the ballast tank?

There is a valve in between the vent line as far as I know. Check if that one is working correct. Also check the vent if it's not blocked (perhaps somebody had put something in it)...
