    Exhaust manifold crack

I just noticed a drip comming out of my exhaust manifold risers on my '94 nautique this morning. There seems to be a crack along the bottom. I drain and leave the plugs out every winter, but I guess it happens... Has anyone else had this problem. Can they be welded or should I just replace it. Any tips or advice?
    Thanks

Personally, I'd replace them. Who knows where else it's cracked, and if it is cracked inside you could have water going into the engine which would really mess things up.

You sure there is a crack there and that it isn't the gasket leaking? I would wipe the spot dry while running the engine and then look to see what shows up.

        skinautique,
Ya, that's what I did... Definately not the gasket.
        Thanks though,

            Thanks guys,
Looks like I'll call up my dealer and get a replacement on the way.

You might try skidim.com or some of the other discount shops.

Or you could always support your local dealer, either way, I hope it gets fixed soom. The ski season is upon us.

Thanks ag4ever. Two of the other guys I ski with in the mornings have a '94 and a '96 nautique, and 2 others have newer mastercrafts, so I'll still be skiin' in style even if my boat is off the water for a bit!

My dealership has successfully repaired exhaust manifold cracks using conventional welding and a product called "Marine-tex". Welders can repair cracks in cast iron using a special welding process, but you must take manifold off. You may also repair with epoxy by cleaning area and applying to surface. I have repaired a number of manifolds this way without any problems. There is a slim chance of an internal crack, monitor your oil level and "look" for problems.
