    GT-40 EFI Dependability (update)

    Guys,
just wanted to thank all of you who set me straight on the GT40's. I guess they are not as complicated as I perceived them to be! Anyway, I did buy a boat, and would like some feedback on it. This is my 9th ski boat (4 MC's, 4 CC's and (1) Excelle). Would like some feedback as far as bang for the buck on this one. I think I did great!
    Check it out:

Looks like a great deal. How far do you have to go to pick her up?

Great deal! Wow. I'd recommend downloading the GT40 service manual from the Downloads section of this site. It's fascinating and will make the engine less intimidating to work on.

Looks good if it is legit! Is that a California Tag on the hull of a boat in NC? Please do be careful, lot's of scams out there!
Had a friend of a friend wire 15k for a boat he never recieved, OUCH!

          Good Luck

            hey guys,
yea, I thought it was a good buy. I could have actually owned it for alot less. Some tire-kicker / dreamer was bidding on it also. He "pushed" the price up, outbid me, then cancelled his bid. I was really upset. Nobody bid on this one after $10,200.00 except for Mr Schill (that's what it's called on Ebay, schill bidding). People bid just to find out the reserve, then cancel. I almost walked away from it since I had every reason to. Anyway, the boat is in Mooresville, NC. Lake Norman? I am from New
England. Shopping for a hauler on UShip.com (great site) as we speak. The best price a I got so far is $800.00. I may just drive down and pick it up myself. Anyone coming this way in the next few weeks!

Good looking boat! I just bought and brought home '96 that was advertised on Craigslist in Mooresville, NC on lake Norman. It is the exact twin of your boat with violet-black accents and the GT-40. I didn't get the deal you got, but it only has 74.4 hours on it. Never been skied behind. I almost bid on your boat, but I was looking for an open bow at the time!

Congrats and once again beautiful boat!

those 5.8 liter fords were darn good motors.

it is a shame they are not made anymore. I just don't think the chevy based motors are as durable.

...sorry never got back to ths thread......yea, the deal fell through. The owner was upset that I did not send him his deposit immediately, so he sold the boat locally. Anyway, no problem. Found a 1994 with 275 hrs that is in absolutely showroom condition. Check it out. Brought her home last weekend from the Finger Lakes in NY.
