    Reading GT40 oil level

Ok, I feel stupid asking this, but I'm having trouble reading the GT40 oil level.
Depending on which way I put the dipstick in, I get very different readings. One showing the level perfect and the other reading quite high.
I changed the oil and put in 4.5 quarts with a new FL-1A filter. The manual says oil pan capacity is 4 quarts not counting the filter. So, it's got to be pretty close assuming I got all the oil out and I think I did.

Anyone else see this? It just depends on whether I insert the dipstick with the hashed area towards or away from the engine.
I've changed the oil on many different engines and this one is by the far the hardest to read the level on.

My tundra is the same way. Just throw in the 5 qts and call it a day. If you know how much it takes, i dont even check it after I fill it.

You should be fine. I usually check how much I drain out when changing oil (just to make sure it's at least 4qts) and then usually end up adding anywhere from 4-5qts depending on how well the oil ran out of the motor/filter.

Just run it a few times and check the oil, as long as you aren't dripping oil anywhere or the level isn't extremely low you are ready to rock'n'roll.
