    Transmission Issues

I just got my boat back from MD boats and it runs great. It's a 92 SN with the Pro-Tec ignition and a PCM 1.23:1 transmission. I was very happy with it until noticing that once the boat warmed up and had been running a couple (2 mabye) hours, the transmission was slow to engage or required higher RPM (like 1500). We had to cut our session short, and limp back to the dock. Checked the fluid hot, but had a hard time seeing it as it was pretty dark. Checked it again cold in the morning at the dock and it was just above the second mark on the dipstick and looked fine. Started the boat and it engaged at 500 rpm and away we went. It worked fine, but as the day wears on it starts to come back. Any thoughts?

    Thanks much for any help.

it's sounds like your transmission is low. suck your tranny fluid out and replace by the same amount. check the fluid while warm and IMMEDIATELY after shuting off the engine.

run it a few minutes in both gears and change it a few times to get that burnt stuff out.

check your cooler for blockage. there is a lot of stuff still floatin' out there and all the crap on the lake will find a home in your cooler.

feel your oil hoses to make sure the cooler is doing it's job. one should be cooler than the other.

      Thanks Tryan.

The dealer said there should be about 2qts. in the tranny. Does that sound about right? Fluid level looked ok cold, but where should I see the fluid on the little stick when it is up to temp? there are two lines (indentations) across the dipstick. Sorry for the rookie questions, but I bought the boat used and it of course came without any manuals.

      Thanks again.
