well i've been working on the boat this winter and am thinking about upgrading the prop also.i've noticed alot of you here run the acme's,but i've heard good things about the oj's too.boats a 98 sport with the gt-40 with the stocker still on it.i'm actually very happy with it though, great out of the hole, just a tick above 45 at wot and surprisingly good every where else,but....if it could be better, why not upgrade right?ski 40%,wkbrd 40%,knbrd 15%,tube 5%.would like to improve out of the hole, top end and ofcourse fuel consumption.(pretty much in that order too)i know.. i know,i wanna have my cake and eat it too  .so watchya think i should buy

RE: props....?
You can't aways get what you want. A lower pitch prop that will give you more pull out of the hole will use more fuel. The engine will also redline at a slower speed, and you will lose top end speed. A higher pitch prop will give you slightly better fuel consumption, but the boat will be slower out of the hole, and it might even have a slower top speed because the higher pitched prop will not allow the motor to rev as high.
A three blade prop will allow you a slightly higher top speed, but you will be slower out of the hole.
My point is, your boat is already propped very close to where it should be. If there was a prop that offered much better performance than what you already got, Correct Craft would be putting that prop on the boats.

- A 3-blade Acme (470) has less pitch than the OJ and will turn more RPM's, but will still be faster on the top end AND out of the hole. Due to the increased RPM's, it will likely use more fuel.
- Any of the CNC props now available (either OJ or Acme) will be worlds better in performance and smoothness than his current OJ Legend.1990 Ski Nautique

danielc i was kidding about wanting all three.i figure somethings gonna have to give.the stocker is a good all arounder, but i'd definitely trade more performance even if it meant fuel consumption going down a bit. cc like most companies puts quality components all the way around there boats, but there is always room for upgrades. even the guy that buys a porsche when his time comes to put new rubber on it i bet he's gonna upgrade to a stickier, better perf. tire than stock.anyways keep the the opnions and advice coming.98 sport gt-40

I have tested the OJ XMP and the Acme comparables side by side. I had such high hopes for the OJ but the numbers proved otherwise that the Acme was a slightly better performer. The biggest difference was the blade thickness, the OJ had significantly thicker blades, note measurements on the pix.

okay so the prop on the boat is a legend, but i've lookedall over it and can't figure pitch, size etc.are all the legend's the the same pitch, size, etc?also is that what cc was putting on 'em in 98.i went to ccfan and looked up old brochures and manuals but all it stated was a 4 blade prop was standard equip. anyways leaning towards a 3 blade since i really don't fill the tanks but maybe only half the time out.seems like know one can give me a real straight answer from acme or delta..go figure?so any other words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated before i pony up the bucks.98 sport gt-40

If your stock prop is doing the job ok, then go for an acme 422, it will give you great hole shot, and it will flatten out the rooster tail at skiing speeds just a bit also. I would also say its a smoother. Its a nice upgrade over the stock legend, which IIRC is a 13 x 16.2005 Ski Nautique 206 SE, Acme 422, PP SG 8.0, ND Tower

I'm surprised to hear you weren't getting any solid answers from acme. I swapped out the stock OJ Force 4 blade 13x16 on my 98 SN for the Acme 422 and was really pleased. I felt like it softened the wake at long lines though I know some people feel it firmed the wake up. I ran a side by side comparison of the 3 blade acme 13x12 (541) versus the OJ XMP 3 blade on my old MC and did a write up of it. So when I was looking to upgrade the prop on my SN, I called acme and asked them if they recommended a three blade for skiing. Bill told me that the 422 four blade was designed specifically for the TSC Ski Nautique and that they recommended it for skiing over the 3 blade.1998 Ski Nautique (Red/Silver Cloud), GT-40, Perfect Pass Stargazer 8.0z (Zbox), Acme #422, Tunable Rudder.
