More problems... Again...
Hey all,
I just spent 2 hours of my life I'll never get back, working on our new (less than 24 hours) SV-211 Team Air. I tried filling the starboard tank and it filled the bilge instead... Of course I knew something was wrong when the gauge wasn't showing anything... Opened the hatch and saw a lot of water. I was sinking the boat and didn't realize it. DOH!
Tore into the tank and found the dump pump had pulled out of the tank. :x So we made some changes and reinstalled. The valve on the helm control was spining almost 360° so I tore into that to find the end (mushroom) had broken off causing the cable to pull out of its mount. :x
Now I need to tear into the Port side to figure out why it doesn't fill at all. Pump runs but no water going in.
Anyone else had these problems? Just wondering because the design of the two broken systems seems VERY flawed.
Cheers,
2WIN

latest update, Instead of contorting to install the valves from over the engine cavity, I loosen the hose clamp that connects the valve to the hose leading to the pump (with a long screw driver ,from the top), and on the other side I loosen the hose clamp at the thruhull fitting. then I pull the valve, attached to the small hose, and cable, through the Vdrive access hatch. (at least on the 211) . This way you can attach the new valve, while sitting in the boat, check for proper travel (look through the valve as you actuate helm control), then just feed it back , and re-install from the top of the engine compartment.
save's on the chiropractor bill.
I have about 30 hours on these valves and not a drop. total no brainer. Cost more in gas to take it to a dealer, and I know it's right!
Buy the way, I did some research on the "OEM" valves, used. They are made by Flowrite (same as the helm switches) anyway they are apparently designed to be used as bait tank "DRAIN" valves, using the static weight of the water tank to keep the valve closed, like a stopper in bathtub drain. I don't think it was designed to plug the "faucet" side pressure that you get when the boat is in motion. lousy application. The part is likely doing what it was designed to do.

2WIN,
I'm not sure it is the same issue on my 211, but I had to replace the hose from the thru hull fitting to the port valve. The clamp had cut a small hole in the hose and it had a steady drip going into the bilge. After replacing the hose, my port pump was running but was not pumping in water. My dealer suggested that I run the boat at cruising speed with the port valve open and with the pump on. The water was forced into the port intake and primed the pump. My port pump is now working fine.
