Anyone Have Trouble With Helm Control Ballast Valves?

Talk about a stretch of "luck". I just bought a nice used boat and the owner did a very nice job of installing a set of hard tanks with brass hull fittings, factory switches and everything but he also bought a set of Flow-"Rights" (wrongs) from the CC dealer. What a bummer, you guessed it , same problem as everyone else here.

Have ya'll found part numbers and where to get explosion proof Red Hats or the Black TH valves?

hang in there for a bit. CC is coming through with the new valves. Heard the other day that they were doing a little more testing before a release.............

I really wish they pursued the larger sized valves for the newer boats, I guess I will have to tell everyone where to put the check valve in and tee so they can have the ballast emptying out of the sides again.

Ballast Valve Service Bulletin Released

Okay everyone... Here's the news we've all been waiting for. Correct Craft released a service bulletin today concerning the Flow-Wrong valves. Correct Craft is picking up the cost of new T-H Marine valves for select 2003 - 2005 boats.

If you are the original owner and are having problems with your Flow-Wrong valves, contact your local dealer for the retrofit. CC will cover parts and labor.

If you are the second owner of a 2003-2005 boat with leaking Flow-Wrong valves, Correct Craft is covering the cost of PARTS ONLY. Contact your local dealer for full details.

This is good news. I think that I may have been one of the first, if not the first to have it done under warranty.

My boat was at West Coast Correct Craft (WCCC) last week, I asked if they would instally MY T-H valves. At first they said No, it was not a CC part so they would not support it. But after I made a call back to the factory and left a few voice mails I received a call from WCCC stating that they would install my valves under warranty. They said that they could not reimburse me for the valves cost but I was not going to sweat the $60 cost of the valves.

After receiving my boat I noticed that one of the valves is quite stiff. Obviously since my boat was probably the first factory sponsored replacement they might not have even had a guideline for the replacement service. Since I am friends with Henry Munoz I am aware that these valves tend to have plastic flashing that may interfere with the water passage so I intend to remove, lube, clean, ream, and re-install the valves. I would recommend that they go back to Henry's post and use his experience/recomendations in their service bulletin.

Finally a solution!!!

The service bulletin has very specific instructions as to how to install the valves, as well as a couple of modifications that are to be made to the valves before installation. I think they took all of the data from this thread (as well as a few personal contacts here) into consideration. It seems to be a very well-thought-out service bulletin.

Yes, all models are included. I suppose select is in reference to the fact that you must be the first or second owner of the boat for the SB to be in place.

So let me get this straight - if my boat allows water to flow into the balst tanks without opening the valve or starting the pumps, CC will replace the valves on my boat? Is this correct?

I believe that to be a true statement, as long as you are the first owner, and your boat is a 2003 - 2005 model. I think you meet both requirements.

Awesome! When we first got the boat I thought, how bad is it really to have to open the engine compartment and play with the valves? After one summer, I'm really glad that they figured out the helm control, It will be very handy. Expecially when you need to balance the boat out.

Same system, the valves that actuate via helm control switches are defective. What I was getting at; the helm control system didn't work because the valves were faulty...
