Installing Depth Gauge in a SE Dashboard

I just completed this install - Depth Gauge Install replacing the accessory power plug. This install is not the perfect solution, the area the on the dashboard is not perfectly flat, so the gauge will not sit perfectly flush - but it is the best option I have found and looks pretty good. You can not tell by looking directly at the dash, but when you look down through the window you can see a small space. I choose a gauge that included water temp and external transducer. Two keys 1. use a pre-drilled board to guide the hole saw drilling out the dashboard. I ran the drill in reverse, nice and slow until it was through the vinyl and did not have any problem. 2. Make sure when drilling into the fiberglass, to run the drill in reverse until you are through the gel coat. This install and using the board as a drill guide and drilling in reverse came from other members on this site.....

Looks great, I've yet to use that 12v plug so I think I will do the same install. Did you notice any disruption to the wake/table and what do you think of the depth function with the transducer at the transom vs in the center of boat. Ive got one on order with depth/air/water temp and a Tri-ducer that should take the place of the paddle wheel...I'll let you know how it works.

The picture of the tranducer is a bit misleading, the bottom of the transducer is aligned with the bottom of the boat. I need to check the wake at ski speeds, but I do not think it will have any impact.
