97 ski nautique seadek project

so i decided it was time to do the interior of our 97 closed bow. Here's what I decided on.
1. Full set of Vinyl through Tim at inboard solutions that I am installing...
2. Full floor seadek, in grey faux teak.
Got the templates done and am waiting on the "dry fit" mylar mock ups to test fit the pieces.
I'm about half way through the Skins, should be done this week. eliminating the carpet required some type of finishing on the naked fiberglass, I elected to Gel Coat the entire floor. I am about halfway done with that portion as well. With the carpet removed I was unhappy with the size of gap around the stern center floor piece and the cooler lids so I have custom cut new center piece and cooler lids out of 3/4" Coosa composites bluewater 26. Those are done, gel coated and look great. Over all I am very pleased with the project and looking forward to my new 1600 hr boat. BTW, should have started this in January instead of March. When I figure out how to upload pics I will post a bunch...

Wow sounds like a really cool project, I can't wait to see some pics. What are you going to do for the hull sides? Did you leave that carpet in place or are you gel coating that as well?

Good question, my best idea right now is go back with carpet. I am also considering some of the bulk seadek product but not sure how to handle the vibration dampening panels. carpet seems the easiest option for sure. I'm going to try and gel coat the observer base and clamshell base. trying to eliminate all the carpet I can.

Got my "dry fit" templates in, looking pretty good. gives me an idea what the finished product will look like. very different.

Cool stuff! I can't wait to see the finished product but it looks like you are proving that you can add Sea Deck to the boats without snap in carpet as long as you are willing to do some additional prep work.

it really cleans up pretty good, Seadek says it will stick to naked fiberglass so I initially was just going to gelcoat the gaps and around the edge. It went on easily enough so decided to gel the whole floor. Getting the adhesive up was the tedious part, I have enjoyed doing the gelcoat.

I'm still waiting on production of the seadek. got the vinyl done and am pleased overall, quality of the skins was amazing. My install skills have improved, a bit too late for one or two pieces...
A couple of observations on the no carpet nautique. The carpet does a lot that isn't readily apparent in the fit of the different moving parts. Also it seems to provided a good bit of sound deadening. I am hoping that the seadek, when installed helps but right now there is quite a resonate drone sitting in the stern seat that wasn't there with the carpet. I have some ideas to try, but any suggestions are appreciated. I will post some pics tomorrow of the finished gel coat on the seat bases and motor box.

Here are some pics of the finished vinyl and seat bases. I really like the no carpet look.
I got a little problem with the floor cracking behind the pylon. my pylon was bent and had cracked the floor immediately behind it. I repaired with fiberglass mat and resin but my repair cracked also. I slid the box back about 1/2" because the pylon was compressing the vinyl on the box. as you can see in the pics I had to extend the floor a bit to fill the opening.
Any input on the cracked floor would be appreciated, I also don't get my feelings hurt so flame away if necessary.

Got notice from seadek today, they are making my deck Monday, and giving me a discount for the delay. I have been pleased so far with the process, their cad dept. has been a little slow due to the season I suppose. But I will be good to go for my week at smith lake on the 4th, which was my goal.... Pics next week when I get it installed.

got my seadek in and laid it out in the boat. I feel a little like the crazy guy in the corner, a bunch of looks and no comments.... anyway for who's interested this is where I'm at.

Nice job, that looks awesome! I look forward to seeing a shot with all of the interior back in the boat. Any ideas how many total hours you have into the project?

hard to say on time, just the floor probably 16 hours. Gel coating the motor box base and seat bases probably 8 hours or so. The problem figuring time is waiting for resin and gel to cure before moving to the next step. so I've done it an hour or so at a time, the first batch of gel I put down took 4-5 days to completely cure due to the cool weather. Had to put a heater under the cover in my garage.
