Water got super low on our lake so I decided to make my winter projects fall projects. The list:
* expanding the stock single group 24 batter box on port side to to for two group 24s
* add perko style switch
* move amp from PO mounted at drivers feet
* rewire both amps and mount on port side behind gull wing
* add LEDs throughout interior
* tap and mount bolt style 16mm LEDs to tower (using holes from PO light bar)
What I started with.
Followed the write up of Core-rider to remove existing interior and them I used a multi tool to cut out the interior. I moved from my original outline to the starboard due to proximity to the stringer. I added a box to give some structure. I coated this prior to installing with resin to waterproof.
I used some pretty heavy woven roving. 24oz. Harder than I thought to keep the sheets together due to the size of the strands. This stuff sure absorbs the resin.
I did a couple of layers on the entire box but didn't get any pictures. I was more concerned about the strength at the corners so I added three extra layers of robing like this
I added resin die to get a stock look.
I did the final layer with 6oz cloth to clean up the texture. Sticky fingers meant no pictures.
Jumping ahead after it put the carpet back and cut to the new opening I added both batteries and connected to a mounted common ground and to the selector switch. Looks a little messy but it was the best I could do with the 2 gauge.
Notice the grey box? That is where all the relays are for my ballast puppy upgrade. So nice and clean out of the way now. Here is the box open.
Here is the final with the seat base back in and my trickle charger mounted. Once the project funds are increased I will upgrade to a more legit charger.
I also moved amps around and sent 2 gauge up to distro blocks. To get the amps mounted to the hull I used hdpe and 3m 5200 and some creative bracing.
I didn't get any pics without the combing pad of the new amp mount but really happy with how it came out. This is also showing t he new red LED interior lights
