It faces the bow... Where I mount it I don't think you'd have any water flowing across the plate if it mounted towards the stern.

Hey Core what did you end up using for final dimensions on the face of your gate? I am building one out of HDPE soon and would like to start out with the correct size and not have go through a few iterations to get it right.

      Thanks,
      Kyle

edit- I saw you tapered it 7.5" at the bottom to 4" at the top over a 9" length. Did I read that correctly? Would you do anything different?

I bought all the parts that was listed, except the HDPE in white. The sucker is aluminum I just painted it red and put anti-rust paint on the interior springs and posts. Made the opening on each side a semi (sorta) circle to make flipping the toggles easier. I am going to tether it to my sons old life vest and have it sit on the back sun deck. So if it falls off, it will float. I was pushing the boat backwards by pushing on this suck-gate while in the garage so it seems pretty sturdy.

Those seem correct with my second design... I don't have it in front of me to measure right now.

I run mine even with the hull line in the boat just in front of your gate... So basically the gate is positioned even with that hull line and angled downward. I'm not sure if your positioning will work any different as I haven't tried it that way. Might be worth experimenting with.

Any updates on performance or design tweaks?
Or anything you would do differently?
Got a couple handles in so going to start throwing one of these together next week when I get home.

Just to add my 2 cents worth. I made a suck gate last year for my 01 SAN. Originally had a 2 headed suction cup like I see on all these posts, one of my levers broke and then I went online to northertool.com and ordered a 4 headed suction cup that way if one does break or loses suction I am still getting suction from the other 3. There is just enought room on that back corner where its angled to attach and you have a little play room but not a lot. Just and FYI.

                    Couple fbrication questions.

What drill bit did you use to drill the aluminium suction cups?
What did you use to cut the board?

Not sure on drill bit size... I just used whatever was slightly larger than the screws I used. I used a jigsaw to cut the HDPE... It cuts just like wood.

                        Here's a link to the 4-headed suction cup: http://www.northerntool.com/shop/too...ed+suction+cup

These are all great ideas, thanks for sharing! I've had troubles keeping my 2-head plastic cup on my '95 SS. Ordered an aluminum handle, but I might switch to the 4-cup handle if that doesn't work. Also, the cutting board route looks way better than my metal shelving frame

Hello, do you know if it works on the ski nautique 2009 model? Should the angle of the shaper be 90 degrees cause I have seem some of them at 45 or 60 degrees

I am sure it will help with the wave on the ski but i can't comment on weather it would be any good. My guess is probably not, but I have seen people ski older ski nautiques so it can't be worse than those.

As far as the angle goes, the reason this one is 90 degree is due to the hull shape of the Original SAN 210. The back corner angles in so the actual angle of the device when place here is closer to 45 or 60 degrees.

                              Thank you,

so should I aim for an an actual angle between 45 to 60? considering the boat weighted will be in an angle in the water what is the angle that the shaper should be placed in relation to the level of the water?

                                Hi,
how far back should I put the shaper? At the back the hull is curved and the suction cups won't work so I have to move forward where is flatter?
