I did this last year and thought I'd share. This applies to the dual puck Zero Off system - on boats produced before 2018. Sometime around 2018 there was a change in how GPS satelites transmitted their date (I believe this is the issue). The old GPS pucks need to be updated to communicate properely with the GPS satelites.
I was having the following issues:
- low satelites - 3 or 4
- rarely getting diff lock
- after the boat sat for awhile without running, Zero Off might not work or it would be flaky
- likely the pull was subpar but this is speculation
There are two options to fix this - 1. Update the GPS puck firmware or 2. Update to a single puck. Since updating the firmware is almost free, I elected to go this route.
See the attached file for instructions on how to update.
After doing this, ZeroOff went back to working flawlessly - always 9+ satelites, always diff lock and it doesn't matter if the boat sits for awhile.
