Official Correct Craft Press Release ---->
Orlando, FLA (October 27, 2009) – Today Nautique announced the dates of the 51st Masters Water Ski & Wakeboard Tournament. The world’s most prestigious watersports tournament will be held May 28-30, 2010, over Memorial Day weekend, at beautiful Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Georgia.
Additionally, Nautique named industry veteran Larry Meddock as the 51st Masters Chairman. Meddock brings a wealth of industry knowledge and experience to this year’s tournament production, including twenty-six years playing a key leadership role in Nautique’s marketing department, fifteen of which he served as the department’s Vice President. Meddock also currently serves as the Executive Director of the Water Sports Industry Association (WSIA), an esteemed position he has held for five years.
Meddock commented on his appointment by stating, “I have had the privilege of directing the Masters with Callaway Gardens for twenty-five years. There was a void in me when I retired from Nautique; I just did not know what to do with myself on Memorial Day weekend. Bill Yeargin has asked if I would come back and function as the Tournament Chairman, and to mentor Jennifer Abel as Tournament Director. It didn't take me long to say yes. As any athlete will tell you, the Masters is special; even if you're not on the water....it just gets into your blood.”
Correct Craft President/CEO Bill Yeargin remarked on the 51st Masters by stating, “Nautique is proud to have produced the most esteemed watersports tournament in the world for the past 50 years. As we approach the 51st year of this celebrated event, we are confident that the Masters founding elements of prestige, heritage, quality and innovation will be eminently displayed at the 51st Masters. We are also excited about the exceptionally talented team in place for the 51st Masters, including Masters veteran and this year’s Chairman, Larry Meddock.”
An invitation to compete in the Masters is universally considered an acknowledgement of achievement for reaching the pinnacle in a given watersports discipline - only the world's most elite athletes compete at the Masters. This tournament is IWSF, USA Water Ski and WWA sanctioned.
