Orlando, FLA (August 18, 2009) This past Friday night the 2009 O’Brien Big Dawg finals presented by Nautique marked a monumental occasion in water skiing history as it was the first time that lighted buoys were utilized in competition. It was also historic as the Big Dawg finals was the first tournament to exclusively use the revolutionary new Ski Nautique 200 in competition.
With a couple thousand enthusiastic fans lining the shores of Okeeheelee Park in West Palm Beach for the O’Brien Big Dawg finals, Ben Favret was crowned the 2009 Big Dawg Champion. Favret emerged as the winner with a score of 2@41-off in the Elite 8, defeating Marc Shaw.
“With a couple thousand people on the beach, a ski tournament under the lights with lighted buoys, incredible competition and the tournament debut of the new Ski Nautique 200, the 2009 O’Brien Big Dawg finals presented by Nautique is an event that will be remembered by the water skiing community for many years to come,” stated Correct Craft President/CEO Bill Yeargin. “Congratulations to the new Big Dawg champ, Ben Favret, as well as to all of the newly crowned National Champions.”
