Official Correct Craft Press Release
PINE MOUNTAIN, GA (May 28, 2006)—Competition at the prestigious 47th Water Ski and Wakeboard Tournament concluded Sunday Callaway Gardens on Robin Lake. Seventy professional athletes from 14 countries around the globe competed in this invitation only event in slalom, trick, jump and wakeboarding.
In the women’s slalom head to head competition, Sarah Green moved on to the finals to face Natalie Hamrick. Ultimately, Green won with a run of 4@38-off, with Hamrick taking second, followed by Clementine Lucine and Michelle Simpson.
In the men’s slalom event, another run-off occurred between William Asher and Chris Parrish in the finals. Asher had a run of 5.5@39-off which was more than enough to defeat last year’s Masters Champion Chris Parrish. Jamie Beauschesene placed third.
In women’s tricks, Lucine, who set a course record on Saturday, scored 8140 points to claim her first Masters title. Regina Jaquess placed second, followed by Michale Briant and Mandy Nightingale.
In the final round of men’s tricks, Jimmy Siemers scored 10,790 points to ensure first place. Nicolas LeForestier placed second, followed by Jaret Llewellyn and Aliaksei Zharnasek.
The exciting culmination of the water skiing portion of the tournament was the jump event, led by the women. In the head to head competition, Angeliki Andriopoulou jumped 178 feet, a new course record and moved into the finals against June Fladborg. In the finals, Fladborg jumped 170 feet to win and Andriopoulou claimed second. Lucine and Masrie Vypraniestsova tied for third place.
In men’s jump, Krueger flew 237 feet in head to head competition against Jason Seels and Jaret Llewellyn moved past Scot Ellis in the semi-finals to face Krueger. Krueger, with a jump of 228 feet, beat Llewellyn. Seels finished third followed by Ellis.
It was no surprise when Dallas Friday, last year’s women’s Masters champion, claimed that title again in women’s wakeboard competition despite stellar performances from Amber Wing who claimed second, Emily Copeland-Durham in third and Tara Hamilton who placed fourth.
In the men’s wakeboard finals competition was extremely close between Danny Harf, Rusty Malinoski, Andrew Adkison and Dan Nott. Despite a fall in his first pass, Harf completed a 900 to a backside 720, a first in the wakeboard industry which helped him to edge out roommate and competitor Malinoski . Adkison place third and Nott claimed fourth in his first Master’s event.
The 47th Masters Waterski and Wakeboard tournament is presented by Correct Craft and pulled exclusively by Nautique inboard boats. All events are sanctioned by USA Waterski and USA Wakeboard.
