Official Correct Craft Press Release
ORLANDO, FLA. (April 25, 2006) —At the 3rd Annual Byerly Toe Jam water sports event presented by O’Neil, Team Nautique professional athlete Brandon Thomas won first place in all three categories. This is the first time a competitor has ever taken all three titles.
The Byerly Toe Jam event features wakeboarding competition behind a Super Air Nautique boat, rail sliding pulled by Yamaha personal watercraft (PWC) and trick competition pulled by a static mounted winch.
For the wakeboarding event, competitors are judged on how well they leverage the boat’s wake to achieve maximum air. Thomas defeated last year’s champion Brian Grubb in the finals on Friday.
Saturday, Thomas was able to top Aaron Reed behind the PWC in the finals to take his second title. In the final event, best trick winch, Thomas completed a switch backside board slide to big spin which gave him his third title by one vote.
“BT definitely rode the best I’ve ever seem him ride,” said Correct Craft team manager Brian Sullivan. “It was probably the best four days of wakeskating that I’ve ever seen. BT’s trifecta shows to me that he is definitely a rising star.”
