Official Correct Craft Press Release
ORLANDO, FL (August 31, 2005) — In the biggest event of the weekend, the Pro Men’s finals at the Air Nautique WWA Wakeboard National Championships, the two hottest riders, Danny Harf and Phillip Soven, continued their battle for the title. Team Nautique athletes George Daniels, Robert Soven and Melissa Marquardt also took home medals in their divisions.
The Pro Men’s national final was almost a copy of another big event in the world of wakeboarding, the X Games which came down to Harf and Soven. The result was the same this time out with Harf taking the win over Soven, but it was a very close contested final. Both riders pulled out big technical tricks but Harf had just a little more than Soven. Harf’s run included a heel side 720, a switch heel side 720, a nuclear whirly bird, a handle-pass KGB and a blind Pete Rose. On the double-up, Harf stuck a big toe side 900. Soven’s run started out with a method skeezer 540, a nuclear toe side roll to blind, a heel side 720 and a whirly 720. On the double-up, Soven landed a heel side backside 720, and just held on for the landing. Soven also landed a 900 off the kicker in the Pro Men’s Semifinals for the best trick of the weekend.
In the Pro Wakeskate finals, Daniels took second place over Collin Wright. Marquardt in the Pro Women’s Finals placed third over Laura Lohrmann. In the Boys division ages 10-13, Robert Soven finished in first place with a score of 75.67 over Jacob Valdez. Correct Craft would like to congratulate the following athletes: Cody Coffey and Matt Vermillion who placed first in their respective divisions, Jason Soven who placed second in Junior Boys under the age of 9, and Ryan Hickey who placed third in the Mens 1 divison.
