Official Correct Craft Press Release
ORLANDO, FL (June 22, 2005) Another great weekend for Team Nautique! Emma Sheers once again proved why she is the IWSF Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive year while dominating this past weekend in New York at the Pro Water Ski Championship. Phillip Soven and Robi Rendo were both in France at the first stop of the IWSF World Cup this past weekend making Team Nautique look unbeatable.
Sheers competed in the women’s jump and slalom events. A native of Australia,
Sheers is having a spectacular weekend, she jumped 170 feet and ran 1.5@10.75m as she claimed first place in both disciplines. Sheers stated, “Conditions were a little tricky with a strong tail wind for the first 2 days. Then on the final day the wind continued to change directions during the event. It was very satisfying to win both my events against a very strong field of girls.”
Defending IWSF World Wakeboard Champions Soven and Rendo are off to a
great start. Rendo placed second in the women’s division this past weekend but she didn’t go down with out a fight. It was a tight competition between her and Cathy Williams in the finals. In a new head to head format in the men’s division, Soven had no problem defending his title as he and Andrew Adkison battled it out on Sunday with just enough to claim first. Soven stated, “The conditions in Engliens les Bains were certainly less than perfect but the crowd was great and certainly motivated me to ride my best. In the finals I had to go head to head with the other top ranked riders on the tour, defeating Daniel Watkins, Josh Sanders, and Andrew Adkison, so it was great to get the win and start the overall standings off with a lead. Because of the weather and missed flights it
took me 48 hours to get to Paris and when I got there I didn't have my luggage or board bag, fortunately I got my board and clothes about 2 hours before I had to ride.”
