ORLANDO, FL (June 8, 2005)—Congratulations to Emma Sheers and Jaret Llewellyn, proud recipients of the IWSF Athlete of the Year based on the 2004 season. This prestigious award is based upon performance on the water and is awarded at the Masters Water Ski & Wakeboard Tournament banquet.
Sheers, the Australian native who dominated in her disciplines last year has earned Athlete of the Year for the second year in a row. The 2004 season for Sheers was absolutely amazing with five jump titles and five slalom titles. Sheers has already started the 2005 season off with three jump titles and one slalom title, and the season has just begun.
Llewellyn, an excellent three-event athlete who gets better with age, was awarded his second Athlete of the Year. In the 2004 season, Llewellyn had two jump titles and two trick titles while he also medaled six more times in his respective disciplines. Llewellyn has started off the 2005 season with one jump title, two trick titles, and he has also been on the podium four other times to date.
