ORLANDO, FL (May 4, 2005) —Team Nautique had a dominant first weekend of the wakeboard season and also in the THQ AMA Supercross as its season is coming to an end. Congratulations to Phillip Soven, Melissa Marquardt, Aaron Rathy, and Ricky Carmichael.
Officially, the 2005 wakeboard season has begun. The first stop of the Pro Wakeboard Tour was held April 30th – May 1st in Orlando, Florida, and to everyone’s surprise 15 year old Soven began where he left off last year, unstoppable! In a new head to head competition Soven came out on top over Josh Sanders to win the first stop of the season. Marquardt clinched second place in the final Pro Women’s head to head competition while Rathy, finished second in the junior men’s division with a score of 66.67 points.
Team Nautiques Carmichael captured his fourth AMA Supercross Championship at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas, on Saturday night, April 30, 2005. Carmichael's win follows closely on the heels of clinching hisfirst THQ World Supercross GP at the Seattle event on April 16. Carmichael is the first rider to ever win both titles in one year. Carmichael now boasts a combined 12 AMA Supercross/Motocross Championships. In addition, Carmichael claims a combined 115 SX/MX career victories so far.
