I attended the Orlando Correct Craft Owners' Reunion this past Saturday, and I must say, this was quite an event. Lots of people brought their boats down, and they all looked great! Boats from as long ago as 1953 were in attendance, and of course there were some 2005 models there too, so the range of years was quite impressive.
The day started around 9:00, when people and their boats started arriving. Owners and guests mingled with representatives from Southeast Correct Craft as well as Correct Craft factory representatives including Gary Meloon, Jeff Warner, and even Correct Craft President Terry McNew. Everyone was also very happy to see Ralph Meloon in attendance! During this time, the boats were being judged three-deep according to their year, and they were also judged based on best stereo, greatest distance traveled, best tow package, oldest boat, and cleanest engine. Correct Craft had put together a team of judges who completed this task.
At about 12:00, everyone gathered in the middle of the boats for a group photo. I'll post a copy of the photo here once I receive mine. It should be a pretty good shot. After the group photo, everyone entered Sea World for a lunch provided by Correct Craft. This was a great opportunity for people to meet other Nautique owners and share their stories. I ended up sitting with a former multi-year promo boat owner, and it was interesting to hear about the changes that he's seen Correct Craft go through over the years.
Once lunch was over, most people ventured into Sea World for some rides and interaction with the animals. Correct Craft had scheduled the awards ceremony to begin immediately after Sea World's waterski show at 3:00. The ski show was delayed for about 20 minutes because of a passing rain shower, but it did eventually start, and was fairly impressive. Due to the rain delay, and the possibility of further rain, the awards ceremony was moved into the lunch area, where the stage could be covered and everyone could stay dry. It is a good thing, too. It did rain fairly heavily during the awards presentation. The awards were presented to the winners by Gary Meloon and Terry McNew. They also gave out door prizes, of which some came from Correct Craft, and others from other affiliated companies, such as Meguiar's, Acme Propellers, PCM, and PlanetNautique.
Once the awards and prizes were presented, some people decided to call it a day while others ventured back into the park. This really was a great event, and if you've never been to a Correct Craft Owners' Reunion, I highly recommend that you check one out.
