ORLANDO, FL (September 13, 2004) — Ricky Carmichael wrapped up his second undefeated season at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, California this past weekend. The 2004 AMA Chevrolet 250 Motocross Championship is a series of twelve races; two motos per race.
Carmichael had already captured the 2004 title after racing at Steel City, PA, the previous stop, but went on to win the last race to give him a second season of perfection. Carmichael had the sports first undefeated season in 2002 and now adds a second season of perfection in 2004. Carmichael dominated throughout twelve races by leading in 370 out of the 382 laps. Carmichael tied his own record for consecutive AMA moto wins at twenty-seven. Carmichael, with 107 victories, also won eight consecutive AMA Motocross Championships and three Supercross Championships in his eighth year as a pro. Carmichael is ahead in the record books with three more titles than rider Jeremy “Showtime” McGrath. Carmichael, a Florida native, is known for setting records and accomplishing the unbelievable especially after missing the 2004 Supercross Championship season due to a knee injury in December of 2003.
