ORLANDO, FL (August 31, 2004) — The 2004 34MPH Big Dawg Slalom Championship was held August 20th–22nd at Bellalago Lake in Warren, Ohio. This tournament determines the best 34mph slalom skier in the country—it’s all about the bragging rights! This competition is unique because the competitors have their choice of towboat, between a Nautique, MasterCraft, or Malibu.
Chad Baker, the 2004 Big Dawg winner, along with forty-five other skiers out of sixty-two, chose the legendary Ski Nautique®. The top sixteen skiers advanced to the final round where they competed for $2,000 and the “Big Dawg” title. In the final round of sixteen skiers, eight chose to ski behind the Ski Nautique. Baker ran 38-off seven times over the course of the tournament; four of those runs were completed on Sunday when he took the title.
The sixty-two skiers came from 17 states across the country. The two requirements to be eligible for the cash prize in the head–to-head event were: thirty-five years of age or older, and not having competed in a pro tournament within the last thirty-six months.
Correct Craft Vice President of Marketing, Gary Meloon, stated, “This type of event is ‘where the rubber meets the road’—a true test of a product’s design and innovation shines through and the numbers speak for themselves.”
