Great Britain's Andy Mapple announced his retirement from water skiing Sunday evening at the conclusion of the Masters' annual awards banquet. Mapple, who finished third in Men's slalom at the 45th Chevrolet Masters on Sunday, said he will only ski two more events this year (Malibu Open and U.S. Open) to fulfill his contractual sponsor obligations. He received two standing ovations. Mapple, 42, has more than 160 professional slalom victories and remains a co-holder of the Men's world slalom record. He also is the defending champion of the Malibu Open and U.S. Open.
