Pine Mountain, GA (May 28, 2010) – The 18th Junior Masters Water Ski & Wakeboard Tournament® began today at beautiful Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, GA. Three records marked today’s prestigious competition; Erika Lang of USA broke the course record in the Junior Women’s Tricks Finals with 8,320 points, Martin Kolman of Czech Republic set a new course record in the Junior Men’s Tricks Finals with a score of 10,210 and Australian Junior Women’s Jumper Jacinta Carroll broke the course record soaring 153 feet!
In the semifinals of Junior Women’s Tricks, Nicole Naser who earned a spot through last weekend’s last chance qualifier, earned top seed in the finals and finished second while Erika Lang exploded with an amazing run, setting a new course record and claiming her first Junior Masters title.
In the Junior Wakeboard and Tricks Finals, Steel Lafferty and Martin Kolman finished strong with first place wins. Steel Lafferty with two standup passes also landed a Backside 7 on his double up with a score of 80.00 to defend his 50th Junior Masters title from Nick Galotifore and Daniel Powers. Martin Kolman took first place in the Junior Men’s Tricks Finals and set a new course record behind the Ski Nautique 200, while James Earl and Rodrigo Chapoy finished second and third.
The third course record of the day, set by Jacinta Carroll during the Junior Women’s Jump semifinals, jumped her last jump at 153 feet and then proceeded to jump a second 153 feet in the finals, receiving her first Junior Masters title, followed by Lauren Morgan and Maria Pajni. Junior Men’s Jump champion, Daniel Efverstrom from Sweden rocketed to 183 feet followed by Martin Kolman and Alejandro Robledo rounding out the podium.
Additionally, in Junior Women’s Slalom, Camille Poulain in her first appearance won slalom with a run of 2@35-off while Gabriella Viljoen and Brie Carter respectively placed second and third. In the Junior Men’s Slalom event, Sacha Descuns ran 1.5@39-off in the semifinals and finals earning a Junior Masters title followed by Benjamin Stadlbaur and James Earl.
Competing in all three events and scoring consistently earned Lauren Morgan and Martin Kolman the prestigious Junior Masters Overall titles!
