Pine Mountain, GA (May 27, 2011) – The 19th Junior Masters Water Ski & Wakeboard Tournament® kicked off the Memorial Day Weekend at beautiful Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, GA. Two new course records marked today’s prestigious competition; USA’s Erika Lang who was the current holder broke the course record in the Junior Women’s Trick Finals with 8,420 points and Australia’s Timothy Bradstreet broke the Junior Men’s Jump record twice in the finals behind the Ski Nautique 200.
During the Junior Women’s Trick semifinal the following advanced on: Giannina Bonnemann from Germany finished second, Alice Bagnoli from Italy claimed third, and last year’s defending Junior Masters champion Erika Lang once again had an amazing performance, resetting the course record to 8,420 points this year and claimed the title for the second year in a row!
In the Junior Men’s Trick final, Timothy Bradstreet from Australia finished strong with 9,300 points securing his first Masters title, followed by Alejandro Robledo and Joshua Briant finishing second and third.
Additionally, in the Junior Women’s Slalom semifinal, a three way tie forced a run-off resulting in Kara Macintyre advancing to the finals where she placed third. It was a close competition as Makayla Haw skied half a buoy more than Brie Carter, becoming the 2011 Junior Women’s Slalom Champion. There was another exciting slalom run-off during the Junior Men’s semifinal between Victor Schultz-Sore, Timothy Bradstreet and Zane Nicholson. Nicholson was edged out of the finals as Bradstreet finished third, Schultz-Sore claimed second and another first time competitor, Brando Caruso from Italy was named the 2011 Junior Masters Slalom Champion.
During the Junior Men’s Wakeboarding semifinal, first time competitor and Team Nautique athlete Paulie Koch was edged out of the finals by Kyle Evans and Joshua Twelker who finished second and third. After finishing 3rd last year, Daniel Powers had two flawless runs and stomped a Heel 9 off the double up earning a score of 78.33 winning his first Junior Masters!
Lauren Morgan jumped 150 feet claiming the Junior Masters Women’s Jump title followed by Brittany Greenwood and Makayla Haw. Additionally, the Junior Men’s Jump semifinal had the crowd roaring as Timothy Bradstreet earned top seed going into the finals where his first jump at 191 feet broke the Masters Course record that had been held by Zack Worden since 2008. Then on Bradstreet’s last jump, he reset the course record to 199 feet claiming the Junior Masters Jump title followed by Christopher Wharton and Seppi Grosek respectively.
Competing in all three events and scoring consistently earned newcomer Giannina Bonnemann and Timothy Bradstreet the prestigious Junior Masters Overall titles!
