Pine Mountain, GA (May 29, 2011) – Today’s conclusion of the 52nd Masters Water Ski & Wakeboard Tournament® at Callaway Gardens brought a new course record in Women’s Jump pulled by the Ski Nautique 200 and four new Masters Champions including Men’s Slalom champion Jon Travers, Wakeskate champion Reed Hansen, and Wakeboard champions Amber Wing and Harley Smith.
In Women’s events, Team Nautique skier Whitney McClintock defended her title for the third year in Women’s Tricks with a score of 7,750, Natallia Berdnikava, also a Nautique skier, finished second. Karina Nowlan who was first off the dock defeated top seed Regina Jaquess in Women’s Slalom with 3@38-off. Team Nautique skier Natallia Berdnikava claimed the Women’s Jump title with a score of 182 feet resetting a new course record right after Jacinta Carroll broke it at 179 feet placing second. In Wakeboard, Amber Wing won her first Masters, landing a Whirly Bird and Moby Dick in her first pass plus a Switch Heel 5 on her wild card trick.
In the Men’s disciplines, Team Nautique athlete Jon Travers, who qualified at the LCQ last weekend, won his first Masters title defeating William Asher who has had the title for the last three years in Men’s Slalom. Previous Masters winner Jimmy Siemers earned back the Masters title in Men’s Tricks. On his first jump of the finals, Freddy Krueger jumped 229 feet once again defending his multiple Men’s Jump titles. Reed Hansen had a stand up pass and also landed his signature trick, the Finger Flip earning his first Masters win in WakeSkate. Australia’s Harley Clifford earned his first Masters Wakeboard title making history at the Masters landing a Toeside 9, Switch Toe 9, and Switch Heelside 9 back to back. He also landed four different variations of a Mobe 5 plus a Heelside 9 off the double up scoring 91.67, one of the highest scores to date.
Over the three-day event there were four new course records set behind the Ski Nautique 200 including Women’s Jump, Women’s Trick, Junior Women’s Trick and Junior Men’s Jump.
