Official Nautique Press Release:
Melbourne, AUS (March 14, 2017) - The Moomba Masters has wrapped up after an epic week-long event in Melbourne, Australia. The record-setting Ski Nautique 200 and award-winning Super Air Nautique G23 provided perfect wakes to pull the best athletes in the world up and down the Yarra River in all the ski and wake disciplines.
The big story of the weekend was the domination by Nautique athletes during the Women’s divisions. Thirteen-year-old Zahra Kell gave everyone a glimpse at the future of women’s wakeboarding by winning her first-ever professional event in her home country. Fifteen-year-old Neilly Ross took home her first professional win as well during the Open Women Trick division with a score of 9,920. Whitney McClintock won her 6th Moomba Masters title in a row in the Open Women Slalom division, and Jacinta Carroll won her 31st consecutive Open Women Jump event as well.
The professional women’s overall podium was swept by Nautique athletes with Whitney McClintock winning the overall 3-event title for the 5th time, Jacinta Carroll taking the second spot and Anna Gay in third.
On the Men’s side of things, Nautique athlete Nate Smith grabbed second place during the Open Men Slalom division. Team Nautique rider Tony Iacconi took 3rd place during the Pro Men Wakeboarding division and Ryan Dodd broke a course record during the preliminary rounds in the Men’s Jump division. Overall, the Yarra River and the city of Melbourne played the perfect host to another widely successful Moomba Masters event, and we are already looking forward to next year.
"I am so thankful that I can compete behind the Ski Nautique 200 allowing me to break course records and keep my winning streak alive," said Nautique athlete Jacinta Carroll. "The Nautique Moomba Masters is my favorite event of the year. Not only do I get to compete in front of my family and my hometown, I get to compete in front of over 400,000 spectators, all while being pulled by the best boat in the industry."
