Pine Mountain, GA (May 26, 2018) - The 59th Nautique Masters Water Ski & Wakeboard Tournament® presented by GM Marine Engine Technology brought out the world’s best in waterskiing, wakeboarding, and wakeskating today all battling for spots in the Finals tomorrow. The PCM engine incorporating GM Marine Engine Technology performed incredible all day long underneath the hatch of both the all-new Ski Nautique and award-winning Super Air Nautique G23.
There were six women vying for four spots in the Final round taking place tomorrow during the Pro Women’s Tricks semifinal there. Team Nautique athletes swept the 3 top spots that earned their place in the final tomorrow with Anna Gay (USA) placing first with 10,100 points, Natallia Berdnikava (BLR) grabbed second with 9,700 points and Erika Lang (USA) in third with 8,950 points.
Congratulations to Junior Masters Slalom Champion Paige Rini (CAN), who competed in the junior head-to-head exhibition against Neilly Ross, earning a scholarship courtesy of O’Brien.
The Pro Women’s Slalom event saw Regina Jaquess (USA) break the course record behind the all-new Ski Nautique with 1@ 41-off. She'll be joined by team Nautique athlete Whitney McClintock (CAN), Manon Costard (FRA) and Brooke Baldwin (USA) in the Finals tomorrrow.
In the Pro Men’s Slalom semifinal, the crowd witnessed Robert Pigozzi (COL) take first place after running 2 @ 41-off followed by Nautique athlete Nate Smith with 5 @ 39.5-off. Freddie Winter came in third with 4.5 @ 39.5-off followed by Will Asher with 4 @ 39.5 off. We'll see all four of them in tomorrow's Final round.
The Pro Men’s Wakeskate semifinal behind the Super Air Nautique G23 showcased some incredibly technical tricks, like a kickflip from Coco Mendez (USA) and a ton of smooth 180’s and 360’s from the world's best wakeskaters. Making it to the final was Reed Hansen (USA) after getting an 83.33 followed by Coco Mendez (USA) with a 56.44 and Brian Grubb (USA) with a 40. We'll see all three in tomorrow's finals.
In Pro Women’s Wakeboarding Team Nautique rider Meagan Ethell (USA) and Dallas Friday (USA) both won their semi final heats and made it into the Finals. Nicola Butler (USA) and another Nautique rider Erika Lang (USA) both advanced as well. On the Pro Men’s Wakeboard side of things, Nautique team rider Mike Dowdy (USA) rode incredibly smooth behind the Super Air Nautique G23 landing a multitude of tricks to grab second place in his heat behind Harley Clifford (AUS) and both advances to the Finals on Sunday. Cory Teunissen also won his heat with an insane run, with Nautique rider Tony Iacconi getting a second place finish and making it to the Sunday final round as well.
Team Nautique athlete Jacinta Carroll continued her dominance winning the Pro Women's Jump semi final heat with a 183 foot (55.9m) jump and earning her spot into the finals tomorrow. She was followed by Hanna Straltsova (BLR) with a 171 foot (52.3) jump along with team Nautique athlete Natallia Berdnikava (BLR) who jumped 167 feet (51.1m).
A huge 233 foot (70.6m) jump during the Men’s Jump semi finals rounded out the day with Ryan Dodd (CAN) winning his heat. Freddy Krueger (USA) also advanced with a 222 foot (67.6m) jump and a second place finish on his last attempt. Also advancing into the Final round was Jack Critchley (GBR) with a 217 foot (66m) jump, and Taylor Garcia (USA) with a 216 foot (65.7m) jump.
