Official Nautique Press Release:
Orlando, FL (Sept. 19, 2018) - Nautique Boat Company and the World Wake Association (WWA) have partnered to produce the 2018 Nautique USA National Wakesurf Championships, presented by GM Marine Engine Technology. The event, which will be held on September 28-30, will take place in Waco, Texas along the Brazos River. Pulled exclusively behind the 4X Wakesurf Boat of the Year, the Super Air Nautique G23, the event will be the first of its kind, debuting an all-new judging format. The best wakesurfers from around the country will be putting it all on the line for National titles.
The new format, which was developed by the WWA along with the top wakesurfers in the sport, will reward the best overall surfers in each division with a focus on difficulty and creativity. “As a guy who has been in competitive wakesurfing since it started, this new format and approach is a breath of fresh air. It’s no longer how many tricks can you jam into a run but how well and stylish are you executing tricks,” commented Nautique team rider, Drew Danielo. “All this behind the Nautique G23 with a wave that has the best shape, size and versatility, this is bound to a great event!”
Over the course of the weekend, the city of Waco will play host to the incredible event along the Brazos River, in downtown Waco. On top of all the action on the river behind the G23, Nautique and the other sponsors will host an exclusive Beach Party at the all-new BSR Surf Resort. Participants, friends and family members will be able to kick back and relax with food, music and plenty of waves at the nation’s hottest new surf resort.
“We aim to give the best possible experiences to our competitors and their families at Nautique events,” said Nautique President Greg Meloon. “This is the start of a long-term partnership with the WWA, and we look forward to providing years of fun, competitive and exciting wakesurfing events.”
