Melbourne, Australia (March 13, 2023) - The Nautique Moomba Masters, presented by GM Marine capped off an amazing week in Melbourne, Australia with massive crowds, new course records, never-before-seen tricks and multiple Nautique athletes claiming titles.
The record-setting Ski Nautique and award-winning Super Air Nautique G23 Paragon were out delivering perfect pulls once again for the top athletes in the world to perform their best. The Yarra River set the stage for newly signed Nautique Team athlete Charlie Ross to set a new course record when he ran 3.5@39.5 off behind the Ski Nautique.
During the Women’s Trick division the crowds witnessed Team Nautique athlete Erika Lang set a new course record of 10,540 points behind the Ski Nautique. After putting together two stellar passes, Erika found herself in the number one spot on the podium.
The G23 Paragon was then on display during the Pro Women’s Wakeboard Division as it pulled an industry first. History was made in the Pro Women’s Wakeboard final when a heelside 720 was landed for the first time during competition. In the end, it was Team Nautique rider Zahra Kell making a huge statement when she rode her way victory after a brief hiatus from the competitive wakeboarding world. Zahra was dominant all weekend as she staked her claim as the Moomba Masters champion.
Nautique Team rider Cory Teunissen also rode the top of his class in the Pro Men Wakeboarding division, and put it together all weekend long behind the G23 Paragon. Cory felt right at home in the Yarra River and earned his way to the top of the podium and a great start to the 2023 season.
During the Mens Jump division, it was Moomba Masters legend and Nautique Team athlete Ryan Dodd claiming victory behind the Ski Nautique. Ryan competed hard all weekend long, winning the Moomba title and also taking the win during the popular night jump portion of the event.
“I am extremely proud of the great showing from Team Nautique at this year’s Moomba Masters,” said Nautique President Greg Meloon. “This is a very special event with the Yarra River, large crowds, and the city of Melbourne as the backdrop. It was great to see Erika, Zahra, Cory, Whitney and Ryan put on a show and kick off the 2023 tournament season with a bang!”
