Official Parker Press Release:
Morehead City, NC (July 13, 2023) - The International Game Fish Association (IGFA) facilitated three days of youth fishing clinics alongside the Big Rock Kids Billfish Tournament in Morehead City, NC. This exciting and educational camp is designed to provide young anglers with an unforgettable experience while fostering a love for fishing, marine conservation, and the great outdoors. The IGFA has proudly expanded this program and has distributed kits worldwide to hold Passports to Fishing events since the program’s inception in 2019.
Parker Offshore employees were on-site to share their love of the sport and to help the youth participants engage in hands-on fishing activities in a safe and supportive environment. From casting techniques and knot tying to learning about local fish species and their habitats, they gained valuable knowledge and practical skills to become responsible stewards of our marine resources. Local families, Bridge Downeast Youth Center, The Boys & Girls Club of the Coastal Plain, and the Town of Morehead City Parks and Recreation all had young anglers practicing catch and release.
"We are excited to collaborate with the IGFA and contribute to the success of this learning event," said Scott Bauer, President of Parker Offshore. "As an organization deeply connected to the water, we understand the importance of responsible fishing and preserving marine ecosystems. By volunteering at the Passports to Fishing event, we aim to inspire the next generation to appreciate the beauty of our oceans while adopting sustainable practices."
The IGFA is a nonprofit organization committed to conserving game fish and promoting responsible, ethical angling practices through science, education, rule-making, record-keeping, and recognition of outstanding accomplishments in the field of angling.
