Official Parker Press Release:
Beaufort, NC (August 23, 2024) - Parker Boats, a leading manufacturer of high-quality boats, is proud to announce its partnership with Pamlico Pirate Fishing Charters, a premier fishing charter company based in Oriental, North Carolina. This partnership highlights Parker Boats' commitment to supporting local businesses and promoting the joys of boating and fishing in the beautiful waters of the Pamlico Sound and beyond.
Pamlico Pirate Fishing Charters, situated in the challenging waters of the Pamlico Sound, is led by Captain Dave Hegel. With decades of experience in the marine industry, including executive roles at Johnson & Evinrude Outboards and top US boat brands, Captain Dave brings invaluable expertise to our partnership.
"Captain Dave Hegel's deep understanding of the marine business, highly-rated charter service, and passion for boating make him an ideal partner for Parker," said Scott Bauer, President of Parker Offshore. "His real-world feedback will help us continue to deliver top-quality, well-designed boats that perform under the most demanding conditions."
Captain Dave's journey with Pamlico Pirate Fishing Charters began in the 1980s while he was a student at East Carolina University. On many fall weekends, he would travel to Oriental, NC, to pursue the legendary "Old Drum" in the Neuse River. Decades later, Dave and his wife Carol retired to their favorite fishing spot, where he now guides full-time.
"I've fished all over the world but always returned to NC in the fall to chase these giant 'Old Drum.' The Pamlico Sound is one of the East Coast's most treacherous waters, and when I take my clients out, I need a reliable and safe vessel," said Captain Dave Hegel. "Parker Offshore has produced some of the highest quality boats for decades. When I decided to approach Parker, there was no second choice. I was 100% committed to using a Parker for my business because I knew it was built with the Pamlico Sound in its DNA. I've wanted a Parker since my first ride in the 1990s."
Parker Offshore hopes to garner real-world insights from Captain Dave Hegel to enhance future products and inform our customer experience. The partnership is a natural extension of Parker Boats' mission to improve the boating experience for enthusiasts.
About Pamlico Pirate Fishing Charters: Captain Dave Hegel grew up in his father's boat dealership in Charleston, SC. As a boy, he was often knee-deep in the mud chasing his beloved "spot tail" bass in the creeks of Charleston. After decades as a leader in the outboard & boat manufacturing sector, Captain Dave retired and started Pamlico Pirate Fishing Charters back in Oriental, NC, a location he found while in college and fulfilled a dream he had had in 1984, to retire on the Neuse River and Guide. Dreams do come true! Captain Dave has one of the highest-rated Charters in NC and has appeared on TV and radio shows. He can often be seen in NC or SC doing seminars if he's not on the water catching fish in his home waters. For more information, please visit http://www.pamlicopiratefishingcharters.com/.
