Pleasurecraft Engine Group ranks highest in customer satisfaction for inboard engines with EFI technology, according to the 2006 J.D. Power and Associates Marine Engine Competitive Information StudySM (MECIS). PCM also has, by a wide margin, the highest quality among the inboards in the study.
PCM receives the highest score on the Engine Performance Index (EPI), which is an unweighted statistical index based on answers new engine owners report about attributes like ease of starting, quietness, reliability, smoothness and acceleration. Reliability tops the list on its impact on customer satisfaction, followed by ease of starting and smooth shifting. Owners were queried about attributes like acceleration, ability to pull up a skier/boarder quickly and other performance traits. PCM’s scores were the highest in 14 out of the15 categories.
The study shows that having a problem with a new engine has a negative impact on customer satisfaction. PCM has less than half as many problems as the segment average and far less than the industry as a whole. The study also queried owners about the way they felt about warranty and the handling of warranty claims. As in years past, Pleasurecraft receives the highest score for warranty satisfaction in the entire marine engine industry.
When the owners were asked if they would repurchase the same brand of engine and recommend the brand to others, Pleasurecraft is highest by a wide margin, not only among inboards, but also all propulsion systems studied. Customer advocacy is important to boat builders given a highly regarded engine manufacturer will tend to increase customer satisfaction and loyalty to a boat brand.
For over 30 years, Pleasurecraft Engine Group has been providing premium gasoline inboards for the marine industry. The PCM brand is dedicated to the water sports application while Crusader is the industry’s premier line of gasoline inboards for the offshore and open water market.
